When we moved into our apartment, we opened two bottles of wine with a bunch of friends and decided that we would start a line across the top of our bookshelves to commemorate the memories that were created with each bottle we consumed. It has been just over a year of living here and we have crossed the 9-ft-wide book shelf a little more than two times. It helped that the weather got cold, the days got shorter and our wine clubs delivered from Sonoma at around the same time, not to mention the beautiful Wine “Jail” the CQ and CK gave us for Christmas, which has encouraged other wine purchases. It has also helped that we love to drink wine, with or without a reason to celebrate.
That said, this week we have been on a cocktail kick. We have also recently acquired new additions to our liquor cabinet, some from Santa, some from friends, some from co-workers and some from impulse purchases, that are burning a hole in our bar. What are two cooks to do?
The drink that we are posting about — created and perfected by Z and taste-tested by A — is simple and refreshing. We are sure it exists already and we just haven’t found its proper name, but in the mean time, we’ll take the credit for this one:
Citrus Cocktail (Version 1)
Yields 2 tall drinks
2 oz lime juice
2 oz lemon juice
4 oz gin
4 oz vodka
simple syrup made from 2/3 cup water and 1/3 cup sugar
2 chilled glasses with 3 ice cubes each
This goes down easy, we promise.

Maybe it’s because i’m trying to get rid of stuff in our home… but my first thought was, “Oh wow, all those bottles are going to be a big recycling job!” :D
Zach has already talked about how when we move out we need to start the recycling process weeks ahead. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, huh?
Too funny. I think you should wait until the last day and put ALL the bottles out and everyone will just think you guys are real party animals! :D
I guess I am adopted because MY first thought was, “I’d totally drink that without the gin or vodka. Or lemon. Meh, I don’t need the cups either.”
So… you’d drink a limeade?
Whoa, that’s a lot of bottles though.
yummy!
BINGO! Now we’re getting to the recipes that COUNT!
The B
Hahahaha! Yessssss! Next time you and Mom come to visit we are going to make you those drinks and this flank steak thing we’ve made a bunch recently and are going to post on soon. We think you guys will love it!
That sounds delicious can we come tonight?
Yes please!
I’m a little behind on my 2Cooks reading so I just saw this. You could caption it: “Where Hoarders and Intervention meet!” :-)
Best title ever.
